Brain teasers said many said could improve cognitive abilities, memory, problem solving and flexibility. However, other research reveals that they regularly play brain teaser will not increase a person's intelligence.
In humans, memory capacity or Work Memory Capacity (WMC) and fluid intelligence are related but are not affected by brain teasers. When playing brain teaser may increase memory capacity but not with fluid intelligence. Memory capacity is the brain's ability to recall past memory, while fluid intelligence is the ability to solve problems, revealing the reasons and relationships.
Studies were conducted on 55 students with brain teasers training for 20 days, if the ability bertambak the response will be paid. Students were divided into three groups comprising the first group who were given complex tasks and deadlines that aim to measure the memory capabilities of participants. The second group is a simple task with deadlines such as remembering the location of objects as shown. The third group was given a visual search task.
WMC and fluid intelligence testing performed before and after training. Obrservasi results showed WMC increased in the first group and can complete the task despite that fluid intelligence remains the same.
So what benefit brain teasers if not make a person smart?
The game is only useful for people who are used to multi-tasking, or quickly move on to the next task. According to another study, breast cancer patients with chemo brain can utilize brain teasers for terapy effects of chemotherapy that is dazed.
